Build the defenses
you always wished existed.

At Wolfe Defense Labs, you won’t be writing slideware. You’ll join a lab-first team of vCISOs, CISSPs, CISMs, developers, and security engineers working directly on modern attack paths, resilient architectures, and the programs that run them.

Remote-friendly, outcome-focused Deep work over busywork Research connected to reality

If you care about how things actually work in Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Google Workspace, SaaS, and hybrid environments — and want to make them safer — you’ll fit right in.

Why Wolfe Defense Labs

A home for people who care about real impact.

We’re not optimized for vanity metrics or volume. We’re here to do deep, meaningful work in environments where security actually matters — and to show our work along the way.

1

Modern problems, not nostalgia.

Our work revolves around identities, cloud tenants, SaaS, and the messy edges of hybrid environments — not just firewalls and legacy perimeters.

  • Attack paths in Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Workspace
  • Real-world detection engineering challenges
  • Program design for cloud-heavy organizations
2

Research that feeds delivery.

Labs work doesn’t sit on a shelf. It becomes assessments, guides, playbooks, and advisory work — and client reality feeds back into future research.

  • Time allocated for research and experimentation
  • Clear paths for publishing internal and external materials
  • Opportunities to lead talks, workshops, and content
3

Team with range.

You’ll work with vCISOs, CISSPs, CISMs, developers, and security engineers who can think in terms of risk, code, telemetry, and architecture at the same time.

  • Cross-functional project teams for most engagements
  • Mentorship opportunities in both technical and leadership tracks
  • Respect for deep individual expertise and craft
Roles

Examples of roles we hire for.

Titles and specifics shift over time, but these are representative of the kind of work people do at Wolfe Defense Labs.

  • Hands-on work with tenant config, logging, and controls
  • Partner with vCISOs and architects on design
  • Convert research findings into practical changes

Detection Engineer

Turn raw events into high-value signals. Build and refine detections, triage flows, and telemetry designs that help teams find what matters.

  • Develop analytic stories and alert patterns
  • Test detections against realistic scenarios
  • Document workflows and tuning guidance

Security-focused Developer

Build internal tools, data processing pipelines, and automations that support Labs research and client delivery.

  • APIs, integrations, and SaaS automation
  • Data ingestion and reporting pipelines
  • Support for experiments, simulations, and content

vCISO / Security Advisor

Lead security programs, roadmaps, and key decisions for clients — supported by technical specialists and Labs research.

  • Own security narratives and program direction
  • Translate technical reality into business impact
  • Work with engineers to make plans real
How we work together

Deliberate, written, and respectful of focus.

We want people doing their best thinking, not just their fastest responding. That means a culture designed around clarity, documentation, and sustainable pace.

Written-first communication
We rely heavily on written docs, research notes, and design proposals so work is understandable across time zones and schedules.
Deep work by default
Blocks of time for focused research, engineering, and writing are treated as essential, not as “nice if you can find it.”
Honest constraints
We talk openly about tradeoffs: time, scope, and complexity. “We don’t know yet” and “that’s out of scope right now” are acceptable answers.
Curious
We look for people who enjoy learning in public.
Practical
Everything comes back to real environments and programs.
Supportive
You’re surrounded by people who care about the craft.
Next steps

Interested in joining Wolfe Defense Labs?

We don’t always have public job postings, but we’re always interested in hearing from people who live at the intersection of security, engineering, and clear thinking.

1. Share your story

Tell us what you’ve worked on, how you think about security, and where you want to grow. A CV or LinkedIn is fine — we care more about what you actually did.

  • Highlight projects, incidents, or designs you’re proud of
  • Mention tools and platforms you’re comfortable with
  • Share writing, talks, or code if you have them

2. Discuss fit and focus

We’ll explore which Lab areas and client work align best with your skills and interests — and what kind of role and workload makes sense.

  • Talk through example problems and scenarios
  • Align on expectations around pace and responsibilities
  • Identify opportunities for impact in the first 6–12 months

3. Move forward deliberately

If there’s a mutual fit, we proceed at a sustainable pace: clear offers, clear expectations, and room for questions.

  • No surprise panel gauntlets or trick questions
  • Time to think about the offer and ask follow-ups
  • Support for ramping in, not “sink or swim”

Share a bit about yourself, your work, and what you’d like to do next. We’ll be honest about whether there’s a fit and what that could look like.
